Fire extinguisher tips
Buy a fire extinguisher for each floor of the house, and place them where they are easily accessible, such as in a hall or passageway.
Get the largest fire extinguisher that you can easily carry and manipulate. Attach it to the wall - but not over a radiator or heater.
Brief all the members of your family on how to use it safely.
Check the manufacturer's instructions for how often it needs to be serviced - usually once a year.
Just because you have a fire extinguisher doesn't mean you have to attack a fire yourself before calling the professionals. Never try to put out a fire unless you are sure you can handle it. When fighting a fire, attack it with your back to your escape route so that you can turn and run if it gets out of control. Don't allow yourself to be cut off.
